Getting Rid of Acne Can be SimpleBy: Greg Mauro Acne is a pervasive condition that affects millions of people around the globe, and while in most instances it is harmless, it causes frequently embarrassment because it most often is on the face and people are always looking for the best ways of getting rid of acne. A common misconception is that to get rid of acne, you have to stop eating chocolate and french fries. But, the reality is that acne is most often a result of heredity, so if your parent have acne, you are more likely to have it, too. Acne outbreaks can also happen because of stress, hormonal changes (including monthly cycles for women), climate and seasonal changes, and sun exposure. It is pretty well known that teenagers seem to get hit hard with acne, and the statistics show that about 80 percent of boys and girls develop acne conditions at some point during their teenage years. The primary reason for this frequency of acne in teens is because of higher levels of a hormones known as androgens, which are produced more during this stage. Androgens cause an increase in the quantity of skin oils that are produced and the combination of these oils and dead skin cells are another cause of acne. Another common myth about acne is that it is causes by dirty skin, and this misunderstanding causes some people to become too vigorous in their face washing routine for getting rid of acne. Over washing or using abrasive cleansers can actually make it more likely to cause an outbreak, or make the current condition of the skin even worse. One of the best things to do to get rid of acne is simply to wash every day, morning and evening, with warm water and a gentle cleanser that will not further aggravate the skin. Using the wrong makeup can be a common cause of acne in women. Women who are prone to acne should only use makeup that is not oil-based. Aloe vera is a natural anti-inflammatory and is very gentle and soothing on the skin and can be very effective in treating acne, especially when used topically and in its pure gel form. There are two essential oils that are also helpful with controlling acne and they are tea tree oil, sometimes called Melaleuca oil, and lavender oil. Both these oils have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that are beneficial in dealing with acne. Getting rid of acne can be as easy as taking steps to take good care or your skins, but if the above suggestions do not resolve the condition, there are many over the counter acne treatments, and prescription acne treatments that you can try as well. |
